Perfectly Pink: Pink Bathroom Inspiration & Ideas

Pink is having a moment, and we love it. From barely-there blush to deep, dusky roses, pink is turning up in tiles, basins and even whole bathroom suites. You might be considering pink for your own bathroom, which is why we’ve created this guide full of inspiration and beautiful images. It will help you decide which pinks to go for (warms vs. cools) and how you can add pink to the space.

Is A Pink Bathroom Suite Back In Fashion?

We’re pleased to say, it absolutely is. Coloured bathrooms were a staple in the 70s and 80s with all sorts of fun colours available, from turquoise and avocado green to plum purple and mustard yellow.

Pink was popular during this time too, particularly salmon pink, however the modern version of an 80s pink bathroom is a bit softer and more muted, and you have much more choice than simply salmon.

When choosing a pink bathroom suite, it’s important to also consider the colours of the rest of the room, whether you’ll introduce something different and contrasting or stick to the pink theme and colour drench the entire room. It might be that you introduce one pink hero item, like a pink freestanding bath, instead of a full suite. This can be a lower risk choice, and makes it easier to update the bathroom should you ever get fed up with pink (although who would?).

How To Find The Right Pink

A pink bathroom can look incredibly beautiful when it’s finished, but getting it ‘right’ and pulling the whole look together can be tricky, particularly when you’re mixing different shades of pink. It all comes down to choosing pinks that play nicely together and that share an undertone. The pink ‘groups’ include:

  • Warm pinks. These are your peaches, corals and terracotta-like blush pinks that all have a more orange undertone, and they go well with creams and natural woods.

  • Cool pinks. These might include rose and bubblegum, and are brighter and cooler than the orange-tinted pinks above. They suit colder metals, like chrome and silver, and go well with black, grey and white.

  • Dusty pinks. These have a greyer undertone and are generally the middle ground between your cool and warm pinks. They are more versatile and will match with more colours, too.

Before making a decision based on the ones you like the most, you should think about the light in your bathroom. A north-facing bathroom will make any pink appear more grey, while a very sunny south-facing bathroom will make the same pink appear much warmer and brighter.

Similarly, a warm-white bulb will flatter any pink but a cool-white bulb could make it look paler and colder.

For this reason, always check the pink in your own bathroom instead of relying on viewing paint samples or bathroom suites in a showroom or on a screen. It’s just one of the reasons why we offer free tile samples.

Once you’ve chosen a group, stick to the pinks that sit within it to make the design feel well thought out and purposeful instead of a bit mismatched.

6 Easy Ways You Can Add Pink To Your Bathroom

  1. Pink tiles

We’re obsessed with a pink tile, which is why we stock such a varied collection of beautiful pink bathroom tiles in a range of sizes, patterns, styles and finishes. There’s our coral pink marble-effect tile for a stand-out luxury finish, or the more subtle light pink brick tile (pictured below).

Our patterned pink hexagon tiles are popular at the moment too, breaking up the continuity of the pink with some added white for contrast.

And don’t forget, you don’t have to use the same tile throughout! Contrast your pink tiles with tiles of a completely different colour, like in this bathroom:

  1. Painted pink walls

Painting your bathroom walls pink is the cheapest and quickest option and can be easily replaced if you change your mind. When choosing a pink, find the colour group that goes with your existing bathroom suite and tiles. For a more luxe, enveloping feel, paint the ceiling the same colour as the walls.

Whenever you’re painting a bathroom, always use moisture-resistant paint.

  1. A pink basin or vanity unity

One statement piece can help to bring in your chosen colour but without overwhelming the whole room. A pedestal sink in matt pink can look really striking, particularly against a dark tile, including navy or dark green, and in a period property.

Alternatively, you can go for a more subtle, cooler pink that pairs beautifully with white, as in this bathroom:

  1. Pink shower panels

Panels work incredibly well in a shower space because there are no grout lines to clean and they’re durable, meaning they’ll last for years to come. They’re also a wonderful way to upgrade your shower area without the cost or effort of tiling. It’s a relatively simple switch up, but the perfect thing for introducing pink into your bathroom.

  1. A pink bath

Make your bath really stand out by turning it pink. You can do this easily with a pink bath panel that means you don’t need to replace the entire bath. Or, you can invest in a beautiful freestanding tub that’s painted in the exact pink you’d like (take a look at our bath painting service to see if this option works for you).

  1. Pink accessories and small touches

There are so many fun ways you can introduce pink to your bathroom without painting the entire thing or installing a new suite. You could have rose gold taps, a pink towel rail, bright towels or a bath mat, or some framed prints with touches of pink or pink frames. These things can easily be changed up when you want a bit of a refresh.

What Other Colours Pair Well With Pink?

Understandably, you might not want to fully embrace the pink, and there are lots of other beautiful colours that perfectly complement it. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Greens for a real contrast, something that feels a bit retro

  • Black for a modern finish that really contrasts

  • Navy to keep a calm feel

  • Terracotta to go with warmer pinks and create a Mediterranean vibe

  • White and grey for a clean finish.

Should You Go For Pink?

The real question is, is pink the right colour for you? If you love it, then absolutely go for it in any way you feel is necessary, whether it’s all out or a subtle nod. If you’re unsure, add a few touches here and there first before you rip out your current bathroom suite or decide to retile.
