The surprising tile grout colours you’ll want in your home
If you’re the kind of person who loves adding a splash of colour to your every day life, then you’ll want to read on…
While some colour-loving people may simply add a pop of orange or yellow to an outfit, bold shades can also brighten up a house that’s in need of a freshen up.
Choosing the right colour can set a desired mood in different rooms of the home — a sense of calm in the bathroom, glamour in the bedroom, happiness in the office and reinvigoration in the utility are just a few examples.
But there’s no need to spend thousands of pounds on bold furniture, units or tiles.
In fact, with this trick, you could pay as little as £25 to give a room in your home a much-needed new lease of life.
We’re talking about coloured grouts. All 80 different shades of them.
Whether you want to instantly update the tiles you’ve already got, or are planning a total re-haul, coloured grouts are a cost-effective solution.
So there’s simply no need to settle for a grout that nearly looks good.
Go for something totally different. Or go for something that perfectly matches the tile colour. Just don’t go for something that’s not quite right.
The classic white metro tile
The classic white metro tile is the coloured grout’s best friend. They can be stacked, laid like bricks, arranged in a herringbone pattern or fitted vertically for something a little different. And when paired with a bold grout, they achieve great things.
Perfect for a bathroom or kitchen, we’d couple the metro tile with orange for an injection of energy, blue for a feeling of relaxation or red for a daring statement.
Millennial pink 0.2
Millennial pink has been a big thing over the past 12 months. It’s a fun, powerful and iconic statement. But for every day living, there are more subtle ways to use this pop of colour.
That’s where a a coral shade comes in. It’s a cheerful, bright and understated colour that works well with a white scheme, accented by copper accessories, especially in the kitchen.
A pastel grout is the perfect embodiment of this trend and also looks great with a white metro tile.
Using coloured grout to connect rooms
Coloured grout can even be utilised to connect different rooms together. If the bedroom is a dark blue scheme, we’d suggest using the same colour grout in the ensuite to create a flow between the two spaces.
The blue shade can then also be mirrored in the bathroom accessories to nail the considered, eclectic look and tie everything together.
Adding a touch of glamour
For something a little different and glamorous, glitter grout hits the spot. Ideal for someone who loves a glitzy, opulent style, these can be used as a feature wall on a staircase, in a dressing room or even the bedroom. Gold grout paired with a grey hexagon tile oozes quality and creates a bit of magic.
Playful colour for the kids
Children are creative thinkers and are stimulated by different colours. So a bold grout is perfectly suited to a room dedicated to kids, whether that’s a playroom, bathroom or bedroom.
Plus, tiles are easily wipeable, making it a suitable choice for the walls of a room where kids often play, and let’s face it, wipe their mucky hands.
A vivid, bright colour is best, and we’d go for bright orange or yellow. They’re both gender neutral — for families with more than one child — and scream ‘fun’!
And these are just a handful of ideas. In reality, the options are almost endless. There’s a coloured grout to suit everyone, whether embarking on a whole house refurbishment or making a small update to a feature wall.
